What is Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS)?

Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), is a popular Metal 3D Printing Technique that selectively fuses fine metal powders. This process is also known as Selection Laser Melting (SLM). This process is suited to Production or Prototype parts.

Advantages of DMLS 3D Printing

Complex Geometry

Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) allows you to optimise you component structure to reduce unnecessary material. AM can also provide any opportunity to manufacture components that aren't able to be made in conventional techniques like machining, forming and casting.

Short Lead Times

AM takes your CAD file and produces a real life components. This means you don't have to wait for tooling to be manufactured. It is also easier to produce design iterations quicker.

Quantity Flexibility

The versatility of AM processes allows you to produce a singular prototype and, also, manufacture production size batch.

Reduced Costs

AM removes the cost of large one-off tooling costs. Using DED, it can be used to repair large components so they don't need to be completely remanufactured.
